The only photo ever taken of a ‘Sicilian Wolf’ a subspecies of gray wolf native to the Island of Sicily, late 1800’s. The species is thought to have gone extinct in the 1920s, though supposed sightings were reported into the 1970’s (929×661)

Interestingly it was a IJN plane, although for pure metropolitan defense, the IJN had no operational carriers and barely experienced pilots.
