11 Feb 1911: Melbourne Zoo’s lion, Wallace, rented by a magician performing at the Melbourne Opera House, walked offstage and out of the theatre. He took shelter in the T&G Buildings, 400 metres from the theatre. After two hours he was coaxed into a cage and returned to the zoo.
