On March 5, 1906, US forces began the assault on Bud Dajo in the Philippines. For 4 days, troops fired into a volcanic crater, killing nearly 1,000 Moro people—including many women & children.

My grandparents took these of each other in the summer of 1953. She was a high school junior and he was 20 and had just come back from serving in the Korean War. They’ve now been married 70 years.
