Five SS men are forced to walk past the corpses of prisoners exhumed from a mass grave near Nammering. They’d changed into civilian clothes in a failed attempt to evade capture. According to the photographer, the five men were all shot after this photo was taken (Germany, May 6, 1945) .

The last photo of SS officer Fritz Dietrich, 50. He had a leading role in the massacres of thousands by Germans and Latvian collaborators in Liepāja. Dietrich, whose role in this was not known at the time, was hanged for the murders of 7 American POWs in Germany (Landsberg Prison, 1948) .
